Our Std. 1 students had a delightful storytelling session with author Aftab Shaikh as he brought his book Ilham’s Birthday to life. Through his engaging narration, he took the young learners on a joyful journey with Ilham, making the story both fun and meaningful. By the end of the session, the children discovered a beautiful lesson—happiness grows when we share it with others. A simple smile or a kind gesture can make someone’s day and, in turn, fill our hearts with joy.

Standard IV
Our Std. 4 students had an enriching session with author Aftab Shaikh as he took them on a journey through his book Letters to Ammi. Aftab, who started writing at a young age, beautifully blends realistic themes and deep emotions into his storytelling, making his books truly special.

During the session, he guided students through the book, which not only tells a touching story but also explores the history and essence of Delhi through real-life images. The book highlights the importance of generational memory and the need to pass down stories to keep them alive.

Aftab patiently answered students’ questions, welcomed different perspectives, and sparked curiosity about the book-making process—leaving young minds inspired.

Standard VI and VII
Students at Akshara High School had an enriching session with award-winning author Anita Vachharajani, who shared the rebellious and inspiring journey of Amrita Sher-Gil from her book Rebel with a Paintbrush.

Bringing art to life, Anita showcased many of Amrita’s masterpieces, including The Brahmacharis and Bride’s Toilet, encouraging students to analyze their mood, colors, and deeper meaning. She emphasized the importance of context in art and engaged students in thoughtful discussions about their perspectives.

The session began with a colorful presentation on the book-writing process using the smartboard, giving students an inside look at how stories take shape. Along the way, she introduced fascinating artistic terms, broadening their understanding of art and creativity.

Ending on an interactive note, Anita patiently answered students’ questions, leaving them inspired by both Amrita Sher-Gil’s legacy and the power of storytelling.

Standard IX
During Book Week, our Std. 9 students had an insightful and heartwarming session with graphic illustrator Suha Khopatkar on the book Hug Yourself. She beautifully conveyed the importance of self-love, mental well-being, and embracing who we are through interactive and engaging activities.

The session featured three powerful activities:

  • Hug Yourself – Students embraced themselves, expressing love and gratitude for their bodies.
  • Breathing Exercise – A mindful practice that helped students connect with their bodies and find inner peace.
  • Letter to My Body – A heartfelt activity where students wrote letters of gratitude and appreciation to their own bodies.

The session ended with an essential takeaway: prioritizing self-love and taking care of our bodies—because we deserve it.
